Harmony Week in the Northern Territory brings together more than a hundred nationalities that call Darwin home. Each year, SANTI volunteers host welcoming cultural stalls featuring free traditional henna (mehndi) artistry, literature on the Sikh faith, and friendly conversations with neighbours from across the Top End.
Skilled volunteers spend hours hand-painting intricate floral henna patterns for children, students, and visitors entirely free of charge as a gift of friendship. Alongside the henna stall, sewadars share the meaning of the Sikh turban (Dastar) as a crown of equality, dignity, and commitment to helping anyone in need.
Through art, hospitality, and open dialogue, SANTI’s Harmony Day participation strengthens mutual respect and cross-cultural understanding across Darwin’s schools, universities, and civic spaces.
