One of the proudest civic milestones in the history of the Sikh Association of Northern Territory Inc. (SANTI) was the formal celebration of Vaisakhi inside Northern Territory Parliament House at State Square, Darwin.
Members of the Legislative Assembly, civic leaders, multicultural representatives, and families of the Darwin Sangat gathered in the grand lobby of Parliament House to commemorate the founding of the Khalsa Panth by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in April 1699.
The programme featured devotional Kirtan, reflections on the universal Sikh pillars of Kirat Karo (honest work), Naam Japo (remembrance of the Divine), and Vand Chhako (sharing with the community), and formal recognition of the Top End Sikh community’s contributions to healthcare, engineering, education, hospitality, public service, and emergency relief across the Northern Territory.
